Traditional Christening and a beautiful family
Dimi contacted us only a few weeks before Michael’s baptism and we quickly worked out the details… a few days before the service I got an anxious call from Dimi checking the details and ‘making sure we’d be there’. She went on to explain that she had had all sorts of problems with her wedding photographer, and, frankly, once bitten – twice shy!
So her cautious approach was understandable. You could almost see the relief on the parent’s faces when they arrived at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of our Lady Theodokos in Redfern, and we were already there. As usual we like to be early. Kath and I were our normal courteous, gracious and professional selves and quickly & efficiently went about our work of capturing this special day.
Michael was incredibly well behaved 8 month old and seemed to enjoy the service. And the intimate nature of the Cathedral made everyone in the congregation feel involved.
There was a little time before the service for us to take some photos of this beautiful family – Dimi and Nick are raising two great boys and they all threw themselves into the impromptu photo shoot. After the service we had time for family photos in the grounds which allowed us to capture multiple generations together.
The reception was held at Dedes, Sydney Rowing Club at Abbotsford.
A terrific spread was laid on with the guests enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We (of course) captured the details on the tables and the cake, but when we found a secluded area and a beautiful winged chair – well, who could resist. Many shots were taken of Michael, his brother, his grandmothers, aunts and Godmother – It was a great location.
We finished off the evening shooting the traditional cutting of the cake and toasting for the occasion.
A beautiful day that started with a nervous mother and ended with a relaxed mother who enjoyed herself immensely on this special occasion.
Until next time
